We will be completing our learning about ratio and the relationship between decimals and percentages. In addition, we will be learning about geometry, properties of shapes and translation, reflection and position. We will also consolidate our understanding of everything we've learnt this year ready for the move to Year 7!

 

Alongside our historical study of the lives of children in WW2, we will be reading 'Rose Blanche' by Roberto Innocenti and 'Anne Frank' by Josephine Poole. These texts will help us to write diaries and also awards speeches for a 'Bravery Award'.

PE will be on Wednesdays this term and swimming will be each Friday.

Please ensure PE kits are in school every day.

P.E KITS:

Black pumps, purple shorts and yellow T-shirts. (Trainers, grey, black or blue tracksuit trousers/leggings and school jumper/cardigan for cooler weather.)

Long hair must be tied up for all P.E lessons. Jewellery must not be worn for P.E.

Please can children bring a full bottle of water (no juice) to school each day.

They will bring this bottle home each night for cleaning and refilling. 

 

Reading

 

Children should be reading at least 5 times per week. Please send reading books and diaries into school every day. 

 

HOMEWORK

Children will be set MyMaths tasks on a Wednesday which need completing by the following Wednesday.

Children should practise their times tables regularly using Times Table Rock Stars.

All login details have been sent home with the children in the front of their reading diaries.

In addition to this, children will receive spellings to learn each week and practise on Spelling Shed. They will be given out on a Wednesday and the children will be tested on the words the following Wednesday.

 Children in Year 6 have access to 'Reading Plus'. This is an online platform which is very effective at developing children's fluency and reading comprehension. Please ensure your child completes at least three assignments each week.

 

Please ensure you check Class Dojo regularly as we put important information and photos on there.
