This year our year 3 team is Mrs Hird supported by Mrs Egan. Mrs Wilson will teach the class on a Tuesday Afternoon.
This half term our topic is 'The Iron Man'.
This topic has a science and DT focus. In Science we will be learning about forces and we will learn about levers in DT. Click here for more details.

PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Please ensure all items of PE kit are clearly labelled and in school. They will remain in school until half term. Please ensure you have removed any earrings on this day as children will not be able to do PE with earrings in. Please note that adults in school are not allowed to remove the earrings and plasters over earrings are not permitted.
As your child is in now in the juniors, there is an expectation that they take responsibility for their own belongings. Please ensure that all uniform is clearly labelled. No toys or pencils cases are allowed in school.
We ask for the children to only bring their purple book bags into school and their PE kits in a small pump bag. We cannot accommodate rucksacks and school books can get damaged in these large bags.
Please remind your child to hand any letters that may need to be collected to a member of staff rather than leaving it in their reading bag. Children also need to take their reading books out of their bags and place in an allocated reading book box every morning to be checked.
Year 3 and 4 are holding a Spelling Bee to encourage the children to learn to spell the 108 words in the Year 3/4 list.
Children will be tested every Tuesday on words they have been given to learn throughout the week. Children need to score at least 9/10 on each test to move onto the next set of words. The children will receive a certificate for each set of words completed correctly. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond certificates. Please try and encourage your children to practice their spellings.
Reading - Please listen to your child read every night and ask lots of questions to ensure they understand what they have read. This should take approximately 10 minutes. Ensure you record that your child has read in the Reading Diary. Books will be checked daily by an adult to mark off any reading at home, counting towards the reading challenge. Children must put their book in the box daily for the count to take place. Children who read regularly find writing easier, they see sentence structure, learn new words and fuel their imaginations.
My Maths homework will be set weekly on a Friday and should be completed by the following Friday.
Timetables. Children in Year 3 should now know their 2s, 5s and 10s and are now working on 3s,4s and 8s. Please support your child in learning their times tables at home. Children will be tested weekly on their times tables.
All children have log in details for Times Tables Rock Stars. Please encourage them to access this website at home.
Homework challenges will be set each half term linked to our Topic. There will be a choice of creative and fun activities to choose from that can be brought in weekly and displayed in the classroom. The children will earn Dojo points for each piece of homework that is handed in. Your child will have been given a copy of the homework challenges or please click this link to access this.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the year
