This year the year two team are Mrs Harrison-Baines as class Teacher, and Mrs Taylor, Mrs Rogers and Mrs ramsay as teaching assistants. miss shaw will teach the class on thursday afternoons as well as supporting in class at other times.
autumn one - ashton is 60!
this half term, we are going to be focusing our learning on the topic 'ashton is 60!'
in this topic, we will be studying local history and geography, including similarities and differences between past and present, a local area study of preston and map work. before we start this topic, we will be doing a science unit called 'harmonious habitats'. We will learn about what living things need to survive and how habitats provide for all of these needs. we are also hoping to visit a castle towards the end of the half term.
For information about what we will be covering throughout the year, click here.
pe days - Tuesday and FRiday. please ensure your child's PE kit is in school and each item is clearly labelled with their name. correct pe kit is the yellow ashton t-shirt, purple shorts or dark leggings/jogging bottoms, pumps or trainers.
please note: trainers cannot be worn in the hall so children will be asked to wear their pumps on fridays during our indoor sessions. if they do not have pumps for these sessions, they will need to take their shoes and socks off for health and safety reasons.
reading books will be changed as and when they are needed. please send your child's book bag into school every day and encourage them to put their book in the basket if it needs changing. as the children are in year two, we will be encouraging them to take responsibility for doing this and we won't be checking book bags for letters or reading books.
spellings will go home on a monday and be tested each friday.
please read for ten minutes with your child at least four times a week.
my maths is set each Friday for the following friday. you can find your child's login details in the back of their reading diary.
your child has a homework book for them to complete all their homework in. any homework submitted via Dojo portfolios or handed into class will earn them 2 dojos.
throughout your child's time at Ashton, they will take part in 100 different experiences and activities. this half term we will be completed two of the experiences that we think are important in your child's wider curriculum.
