Please can you ensure all items of PE kit are clearly labelled and in school for the first week back. They will remain in school until the end of the half term. Please ensure you have removed any earrings on these days as children will not be able to do PE with earrings in. Please note that adults in school are not allowed to remove the earrings as plasters over earrings are not permitted. Some PE lessons will be outdoors so tracksuit trousers/leggings would be advisable.
In Year 1 there is an expectation that your child will begin to take responsibility for their own belongings. Please ensure that all uniform is clearly labelled. The children will be encouraged to place any belongings in their own tray within the classroom. No toys, sweets or pencil cases are allowed in school.
Please remind your child to hand any letters that may need to be collected to a member of staff rather than leaving it in their reading bag. Children also need to take their reading books out of their bags and place in an allocated reading book box in the morning if it needs to be changed. At first staff will remind children each morning of this routine.
In Year 1 the focus is upon phonics.
Please listen to your child every night and help with blending their words together using their developing phonics knowledge. This should take approximately 10 minutes.
Remember to connect with Class Dojo to see how your child is getting on with earning their points and checking in with the Class Story and the newest feature of Student Story.
We will aim to update Dojo daily and encourage parents to check their child’s progress throughout the week. There will be times where we will use the messaging aspect of Dojo for communication so please look out for any messages and feel free to send any messages or ask any questions.
We look forward to meeting you all.
